Chemical Division IV
Production process
It is obtained from prehydrogenation refining, catalytic reforming, and aromatics extraction of naphtha fraction, which is used as a raw material.
Main properties
It is a colorless, transparent, and volatile liquid with an aromatic odor under normal temperatures and pressure and can release toxic steam. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, carbon dioxide, and other organic solvents. It is toxic, flammable, and its steam forms an explosive mixture with air at the explosion limit of 1.5- 8.0% (V).
Quality Standard
GB/T 3405-2011 superior product
Main applications
It is a basic chemical raw material used as a solvent, derivative of synthetic benzene, perfume, dye, plastic, medicine, explosive, and rubber. Its downstream product phenylamine can be used to synthesize MDI, which is the primary chemical material of mask/protective suit. Its downstream product phenol can be used to produce phenolic resin, bisphenol A, salicylic acid, and other chemical products and intermediates. The downstream product adipic acid can participate in condensation polymerization with hexamethy lenediamine to generate nylon 66 (PA66).
